2009 is Scotland's 'Year of Homecoming'. At the heart of the celebrations is The Gathering 2009 on 25 and 26 July. It includes the World Highland Games in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh and a spectacular Clan March up the Royal Mile culminating in a clan pageant on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade. The last time the clans gathered in Edinburgh was to honour George IV in 1822!
