Fairy Tales in the Highlands

Fly to Inverness and your castle home for the next few days is a mere ten minutes away!

Castle Stuart

- Castle Stuart -

Castle Stuart was the very first castle that we booked people into about ten years ago and we have had nothing but unstinting praise for the welcome, the food, and the traditional and authentic atmosphere.

Talking of authenticity, we think you should visit nearby Cawdor, another fairy-tale castle built about 1400 and full of history that you can touch and see and sense for yourself. For complicated reasons involving a dream it was built over a thorn tree - which you can still see in the vaulted guardroom. Stunning gardens.

Loch Ness and its surprises are a mere twenty minutes away and you can take a cruise on the loch with Jacobite Cruises including dramatic views of the Urquhart Castle ruins.

Your holiday includes:

  • Two nights bed and breakfast for two people at Castle Stuart.
  • Dinner on the first night
  • A mid size car (such as a Vauxhall Astra) with Satnav for 48 hours
  • Two entrance tickets for Cawdor Castle
  • A one hour cruise for two on Loch Ness.

There is so much to do and see in the area that it's impossible to list everything; but give us a call or email us to tell us what you, or your fellow traveller, particulary enjoys, and we'll make recommendations - views, pubs, walks, cafés, craft shops, curiosities.

And let us know if we can lay on anything extra for you. A bottle of champagne perhaps!

NOTE: Our castles are all quite small (Castle Stuart has eight letting rooms) offering you an intimate and authentic castle experience. Please give us an alternative date for your stay if you can. Nothing will be taken from your card until we have confirmed to you that your requested date is available.

The price for this weekend at Castle Stuart is £479 per person.

"Alastair, we liked it because it was exciting for us to stay in a genuine castle. We had one tower to ourselves. Caroline was lovely and attentive, the food was excellent, the rooms opulent, and the location was convenient to many historical sites we wanted to see. Caroline's attention to details and fun loving nature made our stay more than memorable. We cannot thank her enough!"

Maria Whitson,

July 2009.

"Our trip was wonderful. The accommodations were excellent, especially Castle Stuart. What a treat to stay in a castle and to be surprised by a piper and a Highlander storyteller!"

Anita Purvis,

April 2010.

"Caroline and Castle Stuart defy adequate description. My dad just kept saying, "I can't believe I am really staying in a castle!" And to be piped to dinner to boot! Caroline is sweet and has a tremendous sense of humor. I have no adequate words to describe the attention to detail, the heartfelt hospitality, and a wee bit of mystery the experience of Castle Stuart evokes."

Chris Hernandez,

April 2010.
